Photoshoot Tips (Deballz Malaysia Modelling Agency) www.deballz.com/razak
Do & Don't on your photoshoot day
What should you do before the photoshoot?
1. | Just be yourself. Show your attitude on what suit you the best.
2. | Bring at least your basic make-up and your under garments.
3. | Get enough sleep. Avoid tension and stress on the day of the shoot.
4. | Look and bring your old pictures; It's fine to show your old pictures to the photographer.
5. | Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of water in the day leading up to the shoot.
6. | Please do not party and drunk the night before. If you "accidentally", reschedule your photoshoot.
How you act in-front of camera?
1. | Be yourself, relax and show your attitude.
2. | Don't move too fast before you are ask to do so.
3. | Don't shy to your photographers. They do know how to capture you the best.
4. | Have fun on your shoot. If you do, it will show up in your pictures, and you'll be that much closer to a callback.
Clothing | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
1. | Usually for a profile photoshoot, we do not provide clothes.
2. | Avoid loud patterns such as checkerboards, polka-dots and stripes. Please also make sure that your clothes colors are not same as the studio background.
3. | Always take a nice variety of pull-overs and button-ups to your shoot.
4. | Bring several pairs of shoes of several types-although they may not be seen, they complete the outfit and give a sense of the character.
5. | You and your photographer can look over the selection that you brought to your session and decide what would be appropriate for you to use in your shots.
6. | No Jeans: Jeans are a little too casual. Try something more formal. Remember you want to look extraordinary and have something to offer that the rest do not have.
7. | No Logos: Okay. Listen carefully: NO WRITING ON YOUR SHIRT. That goes for auditions as well.
8. | Limited Jewelry: Avoid distracting accessories, such as large, shiny jewelry. If you have a pierced ear, wear studs or small hoops.
9. | Glasses: If you wear glasses, go with frames only, no lenses; lenses can cause a glare or reflect the flash, ruining a perfectly good shot.
Other tips? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
1. | Arrange consultation with your photographer to discuss goals, idea, wardrobe, hair, theme and make-up
2. | Make sure to eat and perhaps bring some snacks to keep your energy level up.
3. | Check with your photographer to discuss any questions about make-up, directions and clothing.
4. | Only bring your close friend. The least or none is the better. As many brought friends will lead to crowd.
5. | Again, get enough sleep a night before!

You Want to be a Model?
The Perfect Modeling Portfolio
Teen models are everywhere - in magazines, catalogs, even on television - but breaking into the modeling scene isn't always easy.
If you're serious about becoming a model, you need a portfolio that creates a lasting impression with everyone who sees it.
Modeling agencies and photographers see hundreds of portfolios from beautiful aspiring models like you every day - how can you make yours shine?
What is a Modeling Portfolio?
Your portfolio is simply a collection of your very best photos and will be seen by nearly everyone you approach for modeling opportunities. Gathering a few good pictures may sound easy but it's important to remember the influence your portfolio has on your future as a model. Sometimes, these photos will be the only thing an agency looks at before deciding to call you! You can learn more about [taking model-perfect pictures] in part 2 of this series.
5 Ways to Make Your Portfolio Shout ‘Wow!'
- Focus on the type of modeling you want to do. Some models present the latest fashions in magazines, while others show their style on the runway. You may want to model swimsuits or formal wear - or maybe your dream is to be the next spokes model for your favorite brand. Decide on the type of modeling you prefer and choose photos that prove you're the perfect model for the job!
- Be real with your goals. Remember that there are guidelines for most modeling types. Fashion and runway models are typically tall and slender while magazine and catalog models may be shorter. There are plenty of modeling opportunities for all shapes and sizes so focus on a type that fits your personal style to be successful.
- Get creative. Modeling is an art. Making a portfolio that really says ‘wow' requires some creativity. A standard 8.5" by 11" size book is great for most cases, but there are many other ways to showcase your best work:
-
- Mini-books with snapshot size photos are small and portable - a great way to always have your portfolio at your fingers if you bump into someone interested!
- Digital portfolios are hot, not to mention convenient. Post your best photos in a slide show on your MySpace page or take the time to set up your own website to show off your skills.
- Video portfolios are becoming popular too and offer a creative change from the traditional print book.
4. Don't overdo it. You can create an amazing modeling portfolio with just 2 or 3 really great photos. There's no need to use every picture you've ever taken. Instead, choose 5 or 10 recent photos that demand a second look. If you're not really sure about showing a certain picture or it's not really one of your favorites - don't include it in your portfolio. You can always add to your book with new shots and examples of published photos you've done. Never include more than 20 photos and you'll see more interest.
5. Include the right photos. Obviously, your modeling portfolio is all about the pictures. Be sure to include both full-length photos as well as face shots and choose several different poses. You don't have to use more than one photographer but your photos should have different backgrounds, hairstyles, and clothing. Read part 2 to learn more about getting the [right pictures for your modeling portfolio], including tips for the perfect shoot and finding the right photographer!
